Organised Chaos
An Intriguing visit to a toy merchant in Akihabara, Tokyo.
Akihabara district is in the Chiyoda ward of Tokyo, and hosts Japan’s latest and greatest technologies and electronics. Bright and attractive NEON signage steal your gaze, as your wander through this futuristic gadget-ville.

One particular store grabbed my attention, it looked like a junk store full of noise and clutter. A true reflection of a hoarder, I ventured in not knowing what to expect. But I was pleasantly surprised, and after talking to the shop owner, I boiled over with intrigue and appreciation. Every item seemed lost, but the toy merchant new exactly of its location, its story and worth, a reliable data base of hidden gems housed in his brain provided an experience without parallel.

I took a good 30 minutes to explore and rekindle my child hood. Gameboys, Nintendo duck hunter guns, Teenage mutant ninja turtles, it was all there. I couldn’t go past the 1970 WWE wrestling figurines that provided hours of entertainment in my youth. The most expensive toy was $4000,00 AUD for a Godzilla figurine.

Stepping into a time warp - I left extremely latched on to what was established here and reminded me that there’s a little kid lives inside of all of us, you just have to look.
